Open/Close Menu Community Outreach, Leadership and Professional Development

You are cordially invited to join the 2011 Silicon Valley Hispanic Youth Institute as a Hispanic Hero. This program will inspire underserved teens from East San Jose to achieve a college education, pursue a professional career, and give back to their communities.

The Hispanic Heroes workshop is key to the success of the program. As a Hispanic Hero, you will talk with the students, in small groups, about your path to educational and professional success.

The workshop will run from 8:30-11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 23 on the campus of Santa Clara University.

Heroes are also invited to stay for lunch with the students to continue their conversations after the workshop (11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.) as well as to participate in a debriefing (1:00-2:00 p.m.), to share insights and suggestions on how the workshop might be strengthened in the future. Both of these activities following the workshop are optional.

RSVP at http://hispanicheroes2011.eventbrite.com/

Please note that this invitation cannot be transferred and RSVPs will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

We apologize in advance that this workshop will fill up; however, other opportunities for student engagement will be available in the coming school year.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Kathryn Grady of the Hispanic College Fund directly at (202) 527-0372 or via email at kgrady@hispanicfund.org.
