Inspiring and enabling people to live free of chronic disease

Omada Health is on a mission to inspire and enable people everywhere to live free of chronic disease. We are looking for a Fall 2016 intern to join our growing software engineering team. As a Software Engineering Intern, you’ll have the opportunity to work directly on our products and learn from our professional engineering team. Software engineering internships at Omada Health focus on providing mentorship and developing engineering skills. Omada emphasizes pair programming as the primary method for interns to learn Omada’s software practices, specifically within Ruby on Rails and JavaScript technology stack.

We are interested in candidates with experience in Linux, Ruby, Python, JavaScript, as well as SQL and database expertise. Please indicate in your application which sort of role or set of responsibilities would interest you the most. If you are accomplished in a language not listed above, we encourage you to apply regardless. We are happy to teach fast-learning, motivated people.

More on Pair Programming:
Pair programming is the primary mode of software development at Omada Health. Here, pair programming consists of two developers working on the same computer with two keyboards, two mice, and usually two monitors attached to it. The two developers trade off “driving” and “navigating.” Usually, the two developers work together for the entire work day and switch pairs the following work day.

The goal of pair programming is to 1) educate developers, 2) limit code silos, and 3) inline-code review. For interns, this pair programming experience is particularly valuable because it provides instant feedback and mentoring.

More on Logistics:
Internships can last as long as four months, or as short as three months. While we are looking for intern to start working in September or October, we are flexible on both the start date and duration of the internship.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary ($5,500/month)
  • Support in completing a college co-op program (if applicable)
  • Ongoing, one-on-one mentorship throughout your internship
  • Healthy snacks and lunch
  • Wellness events (e.g. running and biking clubs)
  • Community volunteering
