SHPE Silicon Valley Committment:
Over the last 2-3 years, SHPE Silicon Valley has been partnering with various companies in the Silicon Valley to promote their community outreach initiatives and events. It’s an opportunity to participate in their events and promote engineering in the community. Best of all its an opportunity to share best practices to take back to your own company. Please help make a difference in the community and volunteer if have time on your busy schedule.

Background on Engineers Week:
If you go to any classroom today you?re bound to see iPods, cell phones and hear chatter about the latest and greatest video games. But despite the fact that kids are rabid consumers of the latest and greatest technologies, the number of students pursing engineering and science degrees continues to decline. Starting early February and running throughout the remainder of the school year, engineering professionals will take to the streets and classrooms as part of Engineers Week to try to buck that trend. You can sign up for Eweek here: http://www.svec.org/DiscoverE/engrsnup.html

The classrooms listed are those for teachers that want a speaker to visit their classroom. Search for a school that is convenient, click on the ‘volunteer’ button,
and contact the teacher to setup your school visit at a date and time that is convenient for you.
