On Thursday, August 25th, Google hosted the 2nd Annual SHPE Silicon Valley Member Appreciation Event with the theme of Celebrating Success Through Leadership and Learning. It was a fantastic evening and opportunity for SHPE to thank all its members, volunteers, and corporate and community partners for their commitment and passion to the mission and goals of the organization over the past year.
In a special twist, SHPE had CONOCIMENTO and WORLD CAFE round table sessions for sharing of ideas and knowledge around education and personal development.
Attendees were also treated with a special Google presentation from Mario Guajardo-Céspedes and raffling of two Samsung Galaxy Tablets.
SHPE also awarded its annual ‘Company of the Year’, ‘Estrella’, and ‘VIDA’ awards to the following:
- Company of the Year – Google (IN RECOGNITION OF YOUR EXTRAORDINARY LEADERSHIP AND COMMITMENT TO OUR ORGANIZATION IN AREAS OF COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT)
- Estrella Award – Christian Zuniga (FOR RECOGNITION OF YOUR EXCEPTIONAL LEADERSHIP AND IMPLEMENTING THE PROFESSIONAL TRACK FOR THE 2011 SHPE REGION 1 LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE (RLDC))
- VIDA Award – Mimi Hernandez (FOR RECOGNITION OF YOUR UNWAVERING SUPPORT AND LEADERSHIP TO PROMOTING THE VALUES OF OUR ORGANIZATION THROUGH COMMUNITY OUTREACH)
